Self Isolation Diary – Day 11

3rd November.

Today I attended a webinar on Facebook groups. I have been much more proactive in the last couple of weeks in using our Church Facebook page. Probably something I should have engaged with much sooner. I have never been a big user of Facebook, but I am getting up to speed and it has been lovely to see so many engaging with the posts. At the moment we have a Facebook page but not a group. Perhaps a group would be a good addition? I wonder if there are others who might help administer that?

Not too surprisingly, hope, or at least the need for hope, seems to be a recurring theme at the moment, both in conversations with individuals and in just about every meeting I attend. It is also a thread running through the letter sent by Inter Faith Leaders to the Government earlier this week. It is worth reading the letter. You can find it on the Church of England website, or I have posted a link on the Holy Angels Facebook page. Here are a few lines for reflection…

“Public Worship is an essential sign of hope. The psychological impact of uncertainty, restriction and the impact of the infection is increasingly well studied. We know that people seek signs of normality to help them make sense of restrictions and major change and disruption to their lives. We also know that where people see others act with hope and purpose that we will recover from disasters and traumas; this gives them hope and encouragement too.”

I will end with words from a psalm in which many find great hope and comfort….
